Step 1: Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Training

Please answer all required items. Before you complete this Registration, you must read both the Parents Anonymous® Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification Training Policies and Procedures (en español) and CalMHSA Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification – Code of Ethics. Once you complete this form, you will be redirected to the Policies and Procedures to sign, then to the Code of Ethics to sign.

To be certified, you must meet the following qualifications:

  1. Be at least 18 years of age or older before the State Certification Test date.
  2. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent degree.
  3. Reside in California.
  4. Be self-identified as having experience with the process of recovery from a mental illness or substance use disorder, either as a consumer of these services or as the parent, caregiver, or family member of a consumer.
  5. Be willing to share your experience.
  6. Have a strong dedication to recovery.
  7. Agree, in writing, to adhere to the Code of Ethics.
  8. Successfully completed the training requirements for a peer support specialist.
  9. Pass the certification examination.

Course tuition is $2,500 and is not charged until this application for Registration is approved. Organizations sending multiple participants can be invoiced.

Currently, Parents Anonymous® offers scholarships that pay the full tuition and test fees for assistance for individuals who qualify. We also offer job placement assistance with supportive services.
